Morris Furniture Company was founded in 1933 in Albert Lea, Minnesota and has been operated by the Kenis family for 85 years. Each of the three generations have proudly served their country: founder Paul Kenis as a civilian volunteer translator from 1941 to 1945 at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, Charles Kenis served from 1941 to 1945 in the Army Air Corp and Michael Kenis from 1968 to 1973 in the United States Air Force. Upon his return Michael worked on the sales floor. At the time, Freeborn County was the furniture destination of southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, having seven independent furniture stores and four department stores with large furniture displays. The present showroom was expanded to 33,000 square feet in 2001, it is one city block long all on one level! Quite a difference from the original 2,000 square foot store with two levels on Clark Street where we started. We also expanded into a 21,000 square feet warehouse and distribution facility in 2000 a few blocks from the main showroom. All our growth and success are made possible by generations of loyal customers, as well as new clients from all over southern Minnesota and northern Iowa who value our selection, quality and service.
